Introduction:
When I started this class in this semester, blogging has not been a subject among my ideas or thoughts that took a place in my mind, and the method which will be adopted by the professor or how he will set the objectives, materials, and subjects, especially that I am an international student and all method and styles of study here in America is different from what is in my country, but when the first meeting of this class launched, the idea of blogging was the first time for me to learn about this new method and how it will be used in learning.

This class was different from other
classes, is not only
in its scientific nature or material,
but the style of approach. The way of using blogs as
one of the teaching methods that used
the modern technology.
Initially, I had a difficulty in the way to use it, how to write the blogs or select
the topics, and how to respond to
colleagues topics, but after browsing
and continuing reading, I found it a gorgeous way and
a wonderful style of learning and writing, and it’s very
far from the boredom and routine methods that
we used in traditional classes.
The subjects that rose for
discussion were very good and
exciting and supported the scientific material of curriculum throughout the semester. These topics introduced and provided updated information about the latest developments and changes in
higher education and what the current issues that experienced by
universities and students, and the occurrence of many stories which are
unbelievable.
Our monthly meeting was supporting the issues which were addressed by the students in the blogs, I
came to this meeting and I was excited to receive
more information and more
dialogue and exchange and share
the experiences with everyone who has a previous experience, so we could
benefit from each other.
As I said, this experience was a new
to me, so I have faced some difficulties, but the interest and
the experience that I obtained by working as a group and each one complemented the
other to implement the
requirements of class materials that had a significant impact to overcome all of these challenges
and difficulties. In the future and
at the end of my doctorate and when
I go back to my home, I will adopt this style of
work and the way of learning and teaching with my students
at the university.
Best Blogs:
By watching and reading my colleagues blogs, I was reading a topic after another and I didn’t feel that the time was passing and I don’t know, because I was very excited with these blogs, I wanted to know the most attractive topics of my colleagues topics and the least attractive at the same time, and that will be explained through this diagram:

Through the graph is
clear that the most subjects
that students wrote were in the main blog title which is Access and the cost of higher
education. The least subject that student wrote in it was the main blog of for profit; it is also the least of comments and
responses by students. The most topics
that attracted students and
get their attention and interaction among
all blogs was the main blog of really, this is
unbelievable.
For the subjects that I have chosen, one of them was for applying drug
test for college students and
the goals of this
topic to apply drug test for all
and in all areas (not only for university students) to protect our community
and to reach to the best for us and for
our new generations future.
Also, I addressed the issue of for-profit
institution which it has two-sided
coin, and I tried to explore the importance of investigation
about the benefit of for-profit institutions for students and community.
The topic of international students has been very important because I am one of those students. An
increase of 11% for this year
(2011) and for the coming years
make us to expect encouraging increase of
demand from many countries to study in America, so what the US want? and
what international student need?
The topic of an American but a foreigner deals with students
who hold U.S. citizenship but
through illegal immigration, I think American
students should be same of their rights
since they hold same citizenship.
The future of graduate students, this issue affects all of us. The future is
ours in terms of the high demand for obtaining advanced (Master/Doctorate) degrees
in universities and marketplace.
Issue of mobile phone usage in higher education is one
of the topics I was interested
because it is one of the international quality standards and will support and facilitate
access to the information.
For the issue of COF
is a funding opportunity for universities in Colorado, which will
help to solve the reduction of state funding for higher education.
I
have addressed
the issue of (No more jobs) and how
we should link our disciplines in higher education with marketplace.
Also, I dealt with the (success and failure) from different viewpoints.
(The million graduates) has
discussed the United States’ goal
to reach a million graduates yearly by
2020.
All blogs in which I wrote were important to me because
I thought about them and searched
a lot before I wrote them, and they
have taken a lot
of effort and time, and this happened with every one of my classmates and not just

Despite
of the importance of COF, but I didn’t receive any comments on that blog.
Lack of funding for universities is a serious
issue and this legislation will support
the students and universities especially
in Colorado State.
Interest of the course
Through the blogs that we dealt in this semester which I found it
had a lot of interest:
First, this approach relied on learning and
not teaching and this is one of the
philosophies of modern education
which allows the learner self-learning and allows him to reach his goals through exchanging the
information and experiences
among his peers.
Second, it focused
on the students and not the professor,
because student is at the center
of the educational process.
Third, it allowed us to have a freedom to choose the topics under the main headlines
of material and gave us a freedom
to express our opinion and thoughts in a
scientific and objective manner.
Fourth, it gave us enough time for discussion and participation with each other in all
discussions and dialogues,
the dialogue opens
new horizons and raises
and motivate the mind to reach new topics may
be relevant to the original topic
or may bring us to
a different theme which is far from the main topic but useful for all .
Fifth, we used application
of technology in dealing with material
since using technology in education
is one of the advanced quality standards.
Sixth, this approach provided us the
latest changes and developments in higher education where the books and traditional references not the fastest way that can address or handle with the newest events.
Seventh, it helped me to research and investigated issues in higher
education and access to the latest developments and changes.
Eighth, it helped me to
develop my academic writing style.
Ninth: it created the enthusiasm and competition among colleagues in presenting various subjects.
Tenth: working as teamwork, and it was a fantastic group; colleagues
and collaborators. They helped me a lot specially and this is my first semester in
higher education.
Although our meeting is monthly which allows us a lonely opportunity
to meet our professor, but we were communicating with him and this was not
difficult and he was present with us all the time through
his emails. Meeting between colleagues and exchanging views and debating about topics
created an atmosphere of harmony and affection between
us, although we meet once a month.
This monthly meeting gave us more time to meet the requirements
of this class as well, and also we
could meet the requirements of other
classes. This meeting also
developed our level of debate and dialogue, and
helped me in how to choose the topic for the coming times.
The division of the lecture was suitable; part for
displaying the blogs and discussing
them, and the other part for
readings and discussing the details of scientific material.
Conclusion
Despite all the features and benefit that I obtained from this session which I mentioned earlier, and I can outlined here in terms of quality of selected topics for discussion, the style that depends on using technology, and adopting and accepting the ideas and new issues that were raised by students.

There were also some difficulties and were particular difficulties, as I mentioned that,
this is the first semester
for me at the university and the writing in academic style of the topics was a little bit hard to me, but by continuing and persistence I found myself in the end much better than
the beginning and hopefully I can get
to the level of academic
writing correctly.
Also, the dialogue in
slang among the groups (and I'm an international student and new here) I may couldn’t
understand them as well as the way they
wanted or intended, but the fact that all my colleagues were
collaborative with me. In addition, in
the beginning writing a blog in a week and write
four comments was
difficult, but with continuing of reading and following the
topics that addressed by my colleagues,
I found myself Read
it smoothly one after the other.
This
course has developed new skills for me, I can now be added to
the skills that I have, I will
outline them as follows: This
class develop my skills of academic
writing, using blogs is a great way to exchange information and debate
with others, so dialogue and discussion administration and exchanging experiences in a scientific manner
and at a specific time is kind of creativity.
Finally, I enjoyed to work with you, and my pleasure that I studied among you.
