Graduate Degree Means a Good Job!

Through my latest surfing on the internet for higher education updating, attracted me a report was talking about that the opportunities to get a job and chances to work in the field of higher education increased by 16.5% in the third quarter of 2011 and by 2012 this percentage will be up to 25%, according to a new report from Higher Ed Jobs.

Higher education has become a field which increases the chances of getting jobs. This will help increase the demand for graduate studies in universities. I think that we have a new hope which will decrease unemployment’s issue.
Higher education will support the growth of the economy and will be a core of transition to a knowledge society.
How the status will be if we have a large segment of society who hold graduate degrees in different fields of studies! Who has the best knowledge will be the leader.

I think we are going to have a completely different society with increasing of graduate degrees. If we go back and remember decades ago when primary education was important to change and to improve society, and then when it became the aspiration to a higher level of education and how society has become and what changes and developments which have occurred to people and society? Now higher education has become a fundamental goal for many people, and the status of communities have changed under new level of education which became carrying massive and fast developments in all areas.

After few years, the demand will become for graduate and will be one of the prerequisites for applying to the most of jobs, because knowledge in all fields evolve rapidly and will need to specialists and undergraduate degree will not meet jobs requirements, so we will need to what is higher than that, that means that we need to specialist graduate degrees. This is not predicting, but a reality based on the rapid of knowledge developments.

However, the companies and the private sectors know what graduate can offer interest to them, even if their salaries are high, in the private business sector more important in the first place is the benefit that they will gain it in their workplace.
No doubt that getting a graduate degree such as PhD from a developed country like America is one of the best tools for the professional and social progress, whether inside or outside the United State.

Poll of the QS shows the financial benefits available to those who hold masters or doctoral degree, and underlines the growing gap between the candidates who apply to get a job with or without presence of a high degree of certification. Who has a master's degrees or doctoral will be paid better than others who did not receive a master's degree or doctorate!

Despite of four years over the period of economic recession which all suffered of it, I see that with all the harm that occurred which resulted in a reduction in government spending on higher education which forced universities to raise tuition fees to students, and student debt and loans in order to obtain the Graduate Certificate, after economic crisis, the demand will be on graduate’s level.

  2. Rahman, thank you very much for this helpful post. It is always good to know what the job prospects are for the field you are getting your degree in, it seems to me.

In specifically examining the job prospects for higher education administrators in postsecondary institutions, the number of jobs is projected to increase over the next decade or so about 2% from about 124,000 to 127,000 throughout the U.S., according to the U.S Dept. of Labor (see: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos007.htm#nature). Salaries currently range nationally from about 45K to over 160K for college vice presidents, department managers/directors, deans, provosts, presidents, and other administrators, as a whole. Hopefully, they will continue to rise and at least keep pace with inflation (the cost of living)! This article also mentioned that such jobs would be harder to qualify for without an advanced (e.g. masters or doctorate) degree. Good for us to know!

  3. I can't agree more that the growing number of jobs will be taking place over the next few years which means that the importance of degrees being obtained are increasing as well. This topic was brought up in our last Current events class a couple weeks ago and we discussed how having "just" a college degree is just the start. There are many students who are staying in school now to receive a higher ed degree with a more specialized focus to enter into the working world for a few reasons. One, the job market is so scarce right now anyway, there isn't much reason to leave school and try and get a job. And two, once you leave college, if the market is going to be extremely competitive to get a job, by having a specialized degree puts you one step up on your competition. This in turn, puts a stronger emphasis on the college to provide these degrees and classes to allow for the increase in students who are staying in school. I think this is great for us as higher ed students and great for colleges and society. Society is getting more educated, focused employees. I think this is a win-win situation for everyone. Great article to read through!
